Mark Stevens, as he’s known to his parents, started off as a promoter, hosting monthly and weekly DnB events.
He immediately started learning the ropes, mixing as much as possible and eventually started playing out, to the appreciation of many. After doing numerous residencies at clubs, Niskerone ventured into doing radio where he, along with SFR hosted a show on UCT Radio for 2 years. This was followed by a one year stint on online radio at Mutha FM alongside Counterstrike. The year 2006 saw him start a new weekly residency at one of Cape Town’s leading venues, Fiction DJ Bar & Lounge, where he has pleased many a supporter with the sonic wizardry that is Drum & Bass music.
As testament to his meteoric rise in this industry, Niskerone has received bookings and residencies for most major events around Cape Town. Some of them include the famed “Nightvision Festival, “Obz Festival” “Homegrown @ Mercury Live”, “New Years Revolutions 2 & 3”, Vortex’s “New Years Rezonance” and the world renowned “Earthdance”. He has also worked with artists like Pascal, Counterstrike, Break, Temper D, Nymfo and TKO & Miss Wendy among others.
Niskerone’s mixing style is quick and energetic, with lots of focus on the presentation of the blend. Simply put, a Niskerone set is “Fast Soul Music”.
